How it Works
Safer® Home Ant & Crawling Insect Killer is a powder that contains diatomaceous earth and selected baits. Diatomaceous earth is made up of finely crushed algae fossils. Though it feels soft to the touch for us, each microscopic piece is like a tiny shard of glass to insects. It shreds insects' exoskeletons as they move across it or ingest it. Insects become dehydrated and die within 48 hours of contact.
How to Use
This product comes in a convenient puffer bottle to ensure precise and easy application, even in tight spaces. This product is quite effective against ants, roaches and other crawling insects. Be careful when applying so you don't get too much or too little Diatomaceous Earth on the area to be treated.
This definitely helps to decrease the number of house ants that were coming inside our home. Sprinkled along walls and doorways where they were coming and it helped keep them at bay after few days of using the product. We found that using this in conjunction with additional products (like bait traps) was the most successful in getting rid of the ants and keeping them from coming back. Will definitely continue to use.
I purchased this product SAFER AND & CRAWLING INSECT KILLER because of the label & the rating. Well, after 2.5 weeks of continued use & two powder bottles later, WORSE results. I caught a few of the "crawling" bugs in a zip lock bag, sprinkled some insecticide in there with them and nothing is happening. I put a corner full (about an 1", shook the bugs to the corner and NADA has happened. They still after 3 days still rummaging around like it was just a dusting powder off the shelf. I spent WAY too much money at Home Depot to have NO results. Don't waste your time with this with THIS purchase. Can't upload a picture; the review says its too big????????♀️

"I applied the DE as per the instructions after seeing some black ants, silverfish, and other crawling insects on our porch. The DE settled within a couple of hours. Safer brand DE is not harmful to humans or pets, however definitely wear a mask when applying DE.
2 weeks have passed since the initial application and I am not seeing anymore of the aforementioned insects! I live in the deep country, so that's saying a lot! I'll definitely be reapplying this as recommended by Safer Brand!

Another satisfactory product that works. It is a little bit messy and it is not safe for kids or pets so are used it mostly outside. It worked well around my doors and in places inside that my kids and pets cannot get to.

This product is not recommended for use in gardens. If it becomes wet, it will be ineffective and need to be reapplied.

Can I use this product on upholstery? I found a beautiful recliner someone had abandoned outside. I'd like to make sure there are no bed bugs on it.

Cracks and crevices
Along baseboards
Under appliances
Attics & basements
Gardens

Seeing conflicting info. Is this safe around pets and children? Precious answer says “when used as directed.” So if it’s sprinkled on the baseboards, as directed, it’s safe if my cat goes and smells it? But the label says “hazard to humans and animals.” So what is it?

However, it is important that children and pets do not come into direct contact with the product, especially before it has settled, as stated on the label.
The label includes a “hazard to humans and animals” warning as a standard precaution to prevent accidental ingestion or prolonged exposure.
If your pet has ingested the product or is showing signs of exposure, we strongly recommend taking them to a veterinarian immediately.
